Having decided to do Batman, I started by looking at what costume designs to use. Although it would have been funny to have him wear purple briefs, the brief wanted the character to wear full purple boxers. I tried several variants of the character, including one ion which he would wear nothing but the cowl and the shorts. I ultimately decided to go with the classic black and grey costume, as I felt that the black would mix with the purple a bit better.
I also felt that a more cartoony looking Batman would make the scene a little funnier.
