Life Drawing: Group Animation tests

As part of the 2nd part of this unit, we would learn how to animate using different and unexpected kinds of medium. These types of medium would include Sand, Charcoal, and Oil paints, among others. I worked with Rosie and Katheryn in a group to produce these tests, and I think they turned out really well.

This first test was done on charcoal. We animated a lion running.

Another charcoal test, this time of a horse.

During these sessions we would animate using sand.

For this test, we animated a bird flying and added a twist by adding motion lines coming from the wings. The video below is a loop edit.

The final test was one of randomness. We each took turns drawing a line or shape. Each of these would then be photographed, creating a continuous stop motion animation.

The final tests shown here were all done using Oil paint. This first shows a man running through a woodland area before black lines envelop him.

This is a oil test featuring a bird flying across a sky.

This test shows a Superman-like character flying through a sky.
